If you’re anything like me you love a glass of sweet tea or soda with your meal. But, when you’re counting carbs, those beverages are out the window as soon as you realize just how much sugar you’re consuming when you have one!

Here’s my trick for still enjoying a sweet tea or soda, on occasion, without overindulging!

This super simple trick for still enjoying a sweet tea or soda, on occasion, without overindulging will let you relax without ruining your diet!

Growing up in Texas I have an affinity for sweet tea… and don’t even get me started on Dr Pepper! These were a mainstay in our household growing up, so I’m used to being able to drink them whenever I want.

However, when I started trying to lose all this baby weight and started counting carbs, I realized that I needed to drastically cut back on these drinks.

But sometimes a girl just needs a treat! Here’s how I enjoy without going overboard.

The Simple Trick for Enjoying a Sweet Drink without Over Doing It!

I have been drinking nothing but water for a few months now. This is very odd for me as I was used to having at least 1 sweet drink a day (or more).

In fact, when we would eat at Chick-Fil-A I would regularly drink 2-3 large sweet teas! WHAT?

Fortunately, I have a little trick that works every time and keeps me from drinking so much sugar!

I tested it out on my husband and a few friends when we visited Chick-Fil-A last week, and they were so blown away by the results that I knew I had to share them when you too!

Don’t use a straw. Just take the lid and straw away and enjoy!

That’s it! When they saw me only drink half of a medium sweet tea my friends (who knew how much I used to drink) asked about my secret!

When I shared it when them, they didn’t believe me. I told them to try it for themselves… and they did!

During that meal they all ditched the straws and lids and drank their drinks without them. Each one of them drank well less than a quarter of what they would normally drink!

The same thing goes for soda, just drink without a straw!

TIP: Making sure the drink is very cold will help with this trick. It’s harder to drink a very cold liquid quickly. If you let it warm up to room temperature then you will be able to drink more.
