A few years ago I had a health crisis that caused me to gain 80 pounds in 2 months. Yeah, it was exactly as awful as it sounds!
Then once we got my health crisis under control, I had quite a lot of weight to lose. This way of eating helped me do that in about 4 months, without working out or taking supplements.
Now that I’m a mom, it’s so amazing to know that I can lose weight just with the foods I cook without having to find time to exercise.
So here’s the fastest way I’ve found to lose weight, without having to spend all my time working out. I actually lost 5lbs a week every single week with this system, but if you’re not going to be super religious about it, then you can probably count on 2 pounds a week minimum.
How to Lose Weight Fast – 20 pounds in 4 Weeks
You’ve probably heard about the keto diet by now. While I’m not strictly keto, I have found that while most people focus on cutting calories for weight loss, when you count carbs instead, the fat just melts away!
You can read more about how many carbs you need per day here, but I’ve found that for myself, my husband, my parents, and many friends who have done this, 60-80 carbs per day allows for a 2 pound per week loss and lets you keep a bit of chocolate or an occasional dining out meal.
If you want to hit that 5 pounds a week loss, get under 50 carbs per day.
The Easiest Way To Count Carbs
I am a total numbers nerd, but even I can’t keep all my carbs in my head all day! So I used the easy food diary on Cronometer.com
To make sure you’re tracking properly, here is the way you need to set up your account.
1. Start an account (it’s free)
2. Click on the “Diary” tab at the top of the screen.
3. Scroll down to the “Calories Summary” section and click the gear on the right hand side.
4. Set your weight loss to -2 pounds a week and your Dynamic Macronutrient Targets to High Fat / Ketogenic.
5. Change the strictness under the diet type to “Moderate”.
6. Click close and start adding your food!
TIP: Don’t worry so much about the protein and fat sections, just look at the carb count. However, if you find that you are maxing out your fat section, then you need to find other foods to eat. When you eat too much fat your body won’t burn the fat and you won’t lose weight.
But you do NEED fat, so don’t cut it out completely!
Best Foods to Eat
To get the best results eating a lot of vegetables and very little fruit is what you need to do. By eating a lot of veggies and low (if not zero) fruit, you get a lot of food with just 50 carbs!
My favorite dish that gets in a ton of veggies, that tastes amazing, and is ridiculously easy to make is this Broccoli Casserole. Even the baby loves it!
Plus, one serving is only 4 carbs!
Another favorite is a simple salad of 4 cups of romaine lettuce, a handful of tomatoes, some green peas, and a healthy dose of homemade ranch dressing (this ranch dip with a bit more milk to make it dressing consistency). Top the whole thing with half a chicken breast and this meal come in at 21 carbs!
Dark leafy greens and cruciferous veggies are the best for healing and kick starting your metabolism!
I’m currently doing this again right now, this baby weight needs to finally be gone and in 4 weeks I’m already down 27 pounds! And you know what, I haven’t been hungry a single time! I sure am looking forward to being a lot lighter in a few weeks!
