When your child is ready to learn to read, it can be tricky to bridge the gap between the want and the actual learning.

As a kindergarten teacher I had so many classroom resources for teaching kids to read. But as a mom, I wanted to simplify the process and cut out all the costly curriculum!

So, I started making phonics worksheet sets for my 4 year old, and they are working so well!

Fortunately, as a former kindergarten teacher who has taught many children how to read, I have a few tricks up my sleeve!

This phonics worksheets set contains 4 total pages and is perfect for helping preschool and kindergarten students solidify their vowel sounds.

Children can circle the pictures that match each vowel sound, both long and short. You can start with the color set, so your child can focus on the vowel sounds, then you can use the black and white set to let your child color in the pictures as a finishing touch!

This a great activity that can be stretched out over several weeks, if desired. Just do one sheet a week, or even every other day if your child is really interested!

My son has asked to do these sheets several times and is FINALLY starting to recognize vowel sounds after doing the sheets twice!

These vowel worksheets are perfect for helping your child to solidify their vowel concepts! Whether you are homeschooling or just preparing for preschool or kindergarten, learning vowel sounds is a foundation skill for learning to read.

You will find two sets of worksheets: long and short, in both color and black and white.

I like to have my son practice with the color set first, then as a secondary activity we do the sheets again and color them!

Either way, these worksheets are a fun activity for reading skill practice!
